LIVERPOOL-BASED MINDFULNESS GURU DAVE SPENCER IS TAKING A FRESH APPROACH TO COMBINING ANCIENT BUDDHIST PRACTICES WITH MODERN MINDFULNESS TECHNIQUES, TO REMIND PEOPLE HOW AWESOME THEY REALLY ARE!
The Mindfulness and the Art of Being Awesome project began with the premise that everyone is awesome and everybody has the power to feel that way. Dave, director at Mindfulness Liverpool, said of the project, “Mindfulness means lots of things to different people but essentially, if we go deep into it, it can heal, transform and unlock our potential to be happy, healthy and, well, awesome. I’d like as many people as possible to experience that.”
The first Mindfulness and the Art of Being Awesome workshop in Liverpool is happening on Saturday 11th November at White Wolf Yoga and Kitchen in the city centre. Light hearted, creative and playful, it is also addressing an increasing cultural need for new solutions to well-being. In 2016, research from the National Office for Statistics showed that 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience some form of mental health problem this year. A healthy reminder of how wonderful we all are, coupled with expert guidance on proven techniques for feeling that way, could be just what the doctor ordered.
The project evolved from a series of dynamic mindfulness workshops that Dave has delivered at summer festivals throughout Europe over the past few years. This unique approach, coupled with his fresh delivery style, has led the ex-musician to gain a following amongst a younger demographic than the traditional market for mindfulness.
Dave went on to say, “Mindfulness can be joyful and beautiful. It can calm us and bring a sense of peace but it can also enliven us and help us to feel creative and connected. Mindfulness and the Art of Being Awesome reflects my own wide ranging exploration of these amazing practices and ideas, with the intention of bringing a fresh and unique approach to the whole thing. I’m passionate about using this project to share, express and enjoy all the things that mindfulness can be and all the ways it can be an effortless and beautiful part of our lives.“
