Spring may feel like it’s a long way off right now, but trust fashion & beauty columnist Nancy Buckland Kirk when she tells you that this is no reason to put off investing in some Spring accessories!

If you are thinking about treating yourself in the face of Storm Ciara (any excuse for me, really!) it is time to look beyond opaque tights and teddy bear coats and start thinking about new, beautiful accessories to ease you into next season. Of course, it’s a week that’s all about love, so receiving a fashionable gift is always a plus point. Is self-gifting a thing? I do hope so.

Louis Vuitton Bubblegum BB Bandeau in Blush (£130)

LV is becoming notoriously expensive, even though it’s always been a luxury brand. I checked out all of the new season launches and this gorgeous silk bandeau really stood out to me. It has the signature print without being obvious, the colour is fresh and as an accessory it’s so versatile. Luxe up a white shirt, weave it through a ponytail or upgrade a beloved bag with this blush beauty.

Coach Hudson Shoulder Bag In Blocked Signature Canvas (£495)

Coach is really enjoying a moment, thanks to the help of Jennifer Lopez, who brings her own touch of glamour and street-style to this established, all-American brand. This colourway can be worn with anything and the details are really refined and sleek.

Uterque Leather Loafers With Stones (£120)

Uterque is Zara’s bigger sister, and it has such a high-end feel. These loafers are super-soft and the trims make them standout stars. Team with jeans and a simple white T when the weather warms up, or with a pretty summer dress. If you have a formal dress code at work, these loafers will make a suit much more contemporary.

Massimo Dutti Name Letter Necklace (£29.95)

This is a lovely, budget-friendly treat – I opted for an N, of course! There’s something really personal about a monogrammed piece, and this necklace makes it so affordable. It’s also a perfect gift for someone you love.

Tiffany T Cat Eye Sunglasses (£269)

It’s never too early to think about sunglasses, as the most sought-after launches tend to fly off the shelves. Anything in a blue box is the perfect gift to unwrap, and while jewellery is very traditional, these sunglasses have the same WOW-factor. I have tried these on, and the colourway would light up any skin tone. The signature blue tips add that extra something.

When the wind is still whipping up outside, there is no reason not to add an injection of Spring into your wardrobe. Jane Fonda decreed in her recent Oscar speech that she’s not buying any new dresses. I’m doing my best to not add pieces I don’t need. One thing I do know is that investment buys last. Having just decluttered my wardrobe Marie Kondo-style, the things I kept were the ones that were of the most lasting quality. So this season I’m going to go with Jane with the dress advice. But when it comes to accessories, a few wise treats stay the distance.

And if you get given one as a gift, well it could be rude not to accept, surely?
