Liverpool’s Italian Quarter has officially opened its doors following a seven-figure sum transformation.
Based on Tarleton Street in the heart of the city centre, the venue is the passion project of the Cillo family and features a whole host of independent businesses – all bringing a taste of authentic Italy to Liverpool. This week, it has welcomed the addition of artisan chocolatier, Antonietta Gelato & Cioccolato.
This Friday, the family will celebrate with a food extravaganza at their Williamson Square hub, with each site offering free food, from gelato, pastries, high quality cakes, coffees and more, between 4pm and 6pm.
Owner Donato Cillo said: “We have waited a long time to officially open the doors of the Quarter in its entirety and it’s such an exciting time for everyone involved.
“We want to do whatever we can to say thank you to the community that has welcomed and supported us – ever since we first started our businesses in Liverpool. We first launched the Italian Quarter back in 2012, but have continued to expand the venture over the years – it’s been magic.”
Other members of the Cillo family have now joined the ranks with their own authentically Italian avenues in the space. Each benefits from decades of experience and dedication, with every item handmade from scratch each day.
On the top floor of the Quarter – and out of the public domain – the in-house bakery produces bespoke upmarket and elaborate celebration and occasion cakes and pastries in their thousands on a daily basis.
After years of honing and fine-tuning, Donato’s passion project is finally complete.
He added: “We wanted to make sure families and friends would have something to enjoy, and this Friday as part of the celebrations, every business of the Quarter, every element of the family, will show just what we have to offer. We want everyone to enjoy and try our philosophy; the concept of the business, which is if we haven’t made it, we don’t sell it.”
Gelato and dessert connoisseurs Antonietta Gelato & Cioccolato will be giving out free sticky waffles and crepes; coffee and cake experts P&D Gran Caffe will offer complimentary coffee and mini cakes; savoury specialists Hey Farina will give out Margherita focaccia, and brunch spot Brunchin’ will serve free mini pancakes.
The Italian Quarter’s celebration event will take place this Friday, September 22nd between 4pm and 6pm.
