The Manor

It seems that little time has passed since the relaunch of this enlarged, impressive restaurant. It is anchored in the surrounding in the Wirral; a focal point that draws guests in to enjoy the beautiful interior design and the wonderful food.

We have enjoyed its hospitality immensely and we were really looking forward to sampling the summer menu.

The restaurant is a tour de force. The interior design boasts William Morris wallpaper and upholstery. The lighting is over-arching and can be dimmed or brightened as the evening progresses. The tiled floor, surrounding marbled topped bar, has a Mediterranean, Spanish feel. It is a lovely space to come and relax. The views take in landscaped gardens and a charming court-yard space beside the wedding barn.

The summer menu needs to be carefully considered. I will just mention a few highlights. The Italian flat-breads are delicious. We enjoyed the garlic, rosemary and salt flake, but next time  it will be the Feta, olive and Heritage tomato. The small plates include king scallops, prawn, crayfish salad and Cheddar cheese soufflé.

We opted for the fish and chips. The fish is shipped in fresh every day. This is a restaurant that makes everything from scratch. Their mushy peas tasted like no others. The fish batter was crispy and light. The haddock fish within was flaky, soft and super fresh; the taste heightened with a splash of lemon. The home-made tartar sauce was the perfect accompaniment and the hand cut chips were so moreish. Other options on the summer menu include Caesar salad, vegan burgers, steak and ale pie and aromatic crispy duck.

dessert

The dessert menu included glazed lemon tart and brownies. In the end we opted for lime cheesecake, with lime curd and strawberries. We were not disappointed. The slight sharpness of the lime worked beautifully with the ripeness and sweetness of the strawberries.

Every stage of the meal materialised seamlessly. Ryan our host for the evening gave high praise to the head chef and his team. Staff seem to love working here. The atmosphere in the restaurant was vibrant. Folk were enjoying celebrations with friends and family. Couples were relishing precious private moments.

Ryan gave us a tour of the extended Manor buildings. The wedding barn is rustic and elegant; somehow with a French twist in the décor and lighting. There is a private dining room, with exquisite furnishings and original beams, that can be hired for those special occasions.

We had such a fun evening. And we will find a reason to do this again quite soon.

Afternoon tea can be pre-booked Monday to Friday: 12pm until 3pm.
