June is one of the most interesting and popular times of year to get married in the UK and most of the Northern Hemisphere.

It is interesting because June is not the beginning of spring when the good weather starts for most of us. In northern areas, spring often arrives later than you might expect it. June is when spring starts in places like Britain, Northern France, Germany, Scandinavia, the USA and Canada. And it is one of the warmest months of all for Mediterranean countries and the southern parts of North America.

These factors all make June very popular choice for weddings, and many businesses see an uptick in their sales around this time. It’s not just the brides of course, but all wedding guests, so sales of suits and cocktail dresses go up around this time too. One area that sees a huge increase is underwear and legwear.

As underwear is a perennial thing, it is not as dramatic as it could be, but white and ivory colours see a big spike around here and many retailers, small and large, should plan to have more white bras and briefs available throughout June.

Legwear is even more noticeable in its change though. While white bras are sold year-round but experience a spike in popularity around wedding season, legwear is different. Hosiery almost never comes in white and even less so in ivory. The only times that it does are from brands that specialise in wedding attire, and usually, it’s the bride that wants this kind of legwear.

Occasionally brides will choose a cream or ivory colour scheme for their bridesmaids too, but it is mostly just the bride herself that wears these colours. Because they are never worn outside of weddings, most legwear retailers don’t carry them very much. So, all retailers should take note and make sure they have it in stock.
