SHAKING UP YOUR WORK LIFE

career change

WE KNOW THAT A LOT IS WRITTEN ABOUT CULTIVATING A GREAT WORK LIFE BALANCE. HOWEVER, HERE AT HIS & HERS MAGAZINE WE’RE INCLINED TO THINK THAT IT’S NOT ENOUGH TO BUILD A CAREER THAT GIVES YOU TIME TO DO THE THINGS YOU LOVE…

Given how much time we’re likely to spend working (a whopping third of our lifetime, according to Gettysburg College) it’s got to be worth forging a career path that genuinely makes you feel excited.

For Robyn McGlinchey, our talented health and fitness contributor, that meant ditching a nine to five job that just wasn’t stretching her anymore to become a Pilates teacher. These days, she enjoys seeing her clients’ fitness and flexibility improve and can spend more of her week on her yoga mat and less at her desk.

Sometimes, making a complete career change, like Robyn’s, can transform your working week and your life, leaving you feeling much happier when Monday morning rolls around!

However, if you don’t want to ditch your job, but do want to earn more or to have a greater sense of contribution, it could be time to embrace the side hustle. Or perhaps, rather than building a business from scratch, you want to join an established company as a franchisee.

Whether it’s a franchise opportunity in the UK, charity work overseas, or maybe starting a small online business in your spare time, there are so many ways you can break out of a rut in work by doing things a little differently.

Whichever option you choose, taking some time to make sure your career’s still making you happy and to correct course if it’s not is likely to make all of your weekdays more enjoyable.

We’re very proud to bring you this feature in association with Rainbow International Restoration, a company within the specialist cleaning and restoration sector which has been established for 30 years. Rainbow International Restoration offers franchise opportunities in the UK. The words are all our own (and as you can probably tell, we’re pretty passionate believers in the value of developing a career that won’t make you sigh when the alarm goes off on a Monday morning).

If you’ve recently made a career change, become a franchisee, or have started volunteering for a charity, please tell us all about it in the comments below. We’d love to hear from you!
