At His & Hers we have some fond memories of Father’s Day, back in the day. Time to revive this tradition (after an enforced gap), and find the best way to say a big thank you to that rock solid family man in your life. It could be a leisurely meal, it could be a bottle of something very special, or it might be fun and games. The choices are plentiful, but here are some possibilities that resounded with us.

Eccentric Collection gin duo – perfect Father’s Day gifts

The Eccentric Spirit company’s collection, relaunched and rebranded by west Wales distillery ‘In the Welsh Wind’, has secured an array of awards this year. The distiller has selected two from the range – which they know dads will just love. Choose from the gold medal winning Young Tom or the cask aged Limbeck gin, winner of two silver medals.

Young Tom £38 (46% ABV)

Young Tom from the Eccentric Spirits range offers malty sweetness along with some liquorice and a minty, eucalyptus freshness. It is distilled with an IPA wash, and allowed to rest for 6 weeks before bottling.

Recently awarded a gold medal in the Drinks Business and Spirits Business Spring Tasting 2021. Young Tom tastes best with a good quality, unflavoured tonic which allows the flavours of the gin to shine through.

Limbeck Gin, £38 (45% ABV)

Limbeck Gin

Limbeck cask-aged gin combines blue ginger and tarragon along with Seville orange.  Mellowed in a French Burgundy cask it has a soft peach hue as well as complexity of flavour.

A silver award-winner at the World Gin Awards 2021, it’s a gin to savour, whether at sundown on a beach. Savour it in a melting pot of a bar in a foreign city (when restrictions are completely lifted), or simply enjoy at home.

Otterbeck Distillery’s homage to a legend

Sir Tom's Gin

If you’re looking for an extra special gift, look no further than a new and exclusive gin produced by Otterbeck Distillery to mark the life of a British legend.

Only 100 bottles of Sir Captain Tom’s Limited Edition Barrel Aged Gin have been produced to celebrate the incredible achievements of a man, a beloved father himself, who inspired the world during the pandemic.

This delicious and exclusive gin was aged in a Bourbon cask giving it a depth of flavour.

What’s more, by buying this gin for your dad this Father’s Day, you’ll be supporting some very worthy causes. All profits will be donated to the Captain Tom Foundation.

Captain Sir Tom first met twelve-time Motorcycle Trials World Champion, and co-owner of Otterbeck Distillery, Dougie Lampkin whilst making the ITV film, ‘A Day in the life of Captain Tom.’

They discovered a mutual passion for the Yorkshire Dales and vintage motorbikes and developed a great friendship.

The war veteran was keen to see Dougie’s collection of bikes at his home and whilst there took the chance to visit the Distillery, founded by Dougie, his wife Nicola and friends. Captain Sir Tom joked he’d like to have his own gin one day. After many a taste test and reminiscences about his childhood growing up in Yorkshire, the original Sir Tom’s gin was born.

Sir Captain Tom’s Limited Edition Barrel Aged Gin is priced at £100 per bottle plus postage and can be purchased at:

Some great deals for dads at the Royal Albert Dock:

Gusto

We missed out on spending Father’s Day together last year and celebrating virtually wasn’t ideal. Treat Dad on 20th June to the Sunday menu and enjoy 2 courses for £20. Or if this all gets booked up, treat dad to that great waterfront experience another day, that could still be totally special.

There are roasts with all the trimmings as well as your Gusto favourites. Looks like lunch-time is all booked up, but there could still be some later in the evening slots on Father’s Day, in Liverpool at Gusto on the Waterfront.

Maray

Maray Gin

Maray Gin £30 (50cl): available to buy at all three of their sites including Maray dockside,

Maray’s gin is distilled by Turncoat Distillery and uses three key botanicals to create an incredibly smooth and layered gin. Bright zesty orange peel works with the citrus aroma of sumac, rounded off with the warming, gentle spice of coriander seed. Summer distilled in a drink.

Lunya

Lunya Gin £29.95 (50cl)

Lunya’s very own bespoke gin is inspired by founders Elaine and Peter Kinsella’s trips to Spain, handcrafted from stunning ingredients grown in the Spanish sunshine.

The botanicals of membrillo (quince), smoked ñora pepper and orange blossom flower evoke warm evenings in the hills of Catalunya. There is a combining of floral and fruity notes with a subtle spiciness.

The Leather Satchel Co.

Show your dad you really know him well, right down to his waist size, with a bespoke belt from The Leather Satchel Co. Made-to-order, while you wait, they come in sizes 24″ to 48″ waist and a choice of 13 different full grain leathers and two widths, an accessory dad is sure to love.
